Ms Makor is an Abuja based designer that I fell in love with not too long ago. I had seen and appreciated her work in the past but never patronised her business until recently. I had a wedding to attend and due to 'logistical issues', my dress of choice didn't arrive in good enough time for the wedding. So, a day before the wedding, I went dress hunting and visited the Ms Makor store and Anita Adebisi, creative director of Ms Makor decided this was the dress for me, without me even trying it. She was right. I loved it! It was pretty dramatic for me but had to have it once I put it on.
As a goddess of last minute shopping, I had an event the week after- the Abuja Young Entrepreneurs (AYE) Awards. To be fair, I didn't know I was attending said event until two days before. Remembering how grand I felt in last week's dress, I went straight to Ms Makor and picked this simple yet chic piece. I think it was the galactic tie-dye fabric that won me over too.
I was feeling a bit under the weather so I figured a dark vamp look would hide the sunken eyes, etc. And it did :-)
And of course Kate Henshaw in this Ms Makor is life giving!!!
Ms Makor is available at Siobhan Fashion Stalls in Silverbird Entertainment Centre, Abuja and in Old Banex Plaza. I believe Vane-Style 71 Raymond Njoku Street in Ikoyi, Lagos stocks the brand too.

Late Lunch and Champagne Brunch
I was cordially invited to a champagne brunch hosted by The Wedding Guru, an events planner in Abuja. Not knowing what to the expect of the event, I was looking forward to it especially because on the stylish invitation cards sealed in a canary yellow envelope with gold embossed writing. Shame I didn't take a photo of it. But here's what the invite looked like:
It was on a Friday during work hours so I chose to have a late lunch, of course. I had to put my best fashionable foot forward and still be work compliant given the dress code restrictions at my work place.

Brutal Hearts
These are a few of my favourite things I wouldn't mind being bought for me. Some guy out there should be kind enough, strictly business which is why I have called this brutal hearts. It would be inappropriate for me to describe this as 'no strings attached' seeing as the items in this collage are my many strings. And what's on offer? The answer lies in this song by Bedouin Soundclash...

Red Carpet Ready
Happy New Year everyone!
I know I've neglected you, I even wonder to myself how you've been fairing without your usual fashion manna. It's alright, I have returned after a long hiatus that consisted of preparing for exams, holidaying and general rigma-rolling.
I have a lot to catch up with fashion wise, I didnt even know till Monday morning that the Golden Globes was on Sunday. I missed E!'s red carpet show.... *sigh*. At leats I have the SAGs and the Oscars to look forward to. Here's a piece I did for HauTe Fashion Africa, in time for the award season. Read all about it here
In the mean time, anyone with new year fashion resolutions they'd like to share. I have one, to be more adventurous with my style, unafriad of a fashion faux pas or two... xx
