For HFA: Shop the Trends

I know it's been a minute but I'm y'all remember I write for the online fashion magazine, HauTe Fashion Africa. While things haven't been busy for a while now, things have picked up with the relaunching of HFA's new and beta site. Make sure to have a look. In the mean time, these are some of the collages I prepared for the trend reports for Cape Town Fashion Week and a couple more:

A Few of My Favourite Things

I know I'm kinda late on this one, but I sure do love Aqua's Electric Dreams SS12 collection. From the pastel pallettes to the silhouettes and inspiration from nature's very own (the sting belt looks very much like a sting ray). There is a refreshing pop of colour and a certain breeziness to the collection. I want everything in this look book! Enough blabbing, here's Electric Dreams:

Art Project: DIY Picture Frame

Aztec print or tribal print as some choose to call it, is a major trend this year in fashion and has been replicated over and over again in many ways and multicolours. Of course I had to do my adaption of the print at some point. Thus, the artist in me manifested (yeah, manifested).

Inspired by the DIY iphone case on Unexpected Expectations, I decided to get arty with a wooden frame I got in the goodie bag from the champagne brunch.

My canvas of choice, this plain picture frame:
Look at me, boring and... wooden :-/
What you need:
  • Multicolour Tulip Slick fabric paints
  • White work top (it doesn't have to be white)
  • Q-tips/ear buds (for cleaning little messes)
  • Tissue

Monsoon Accessorize Sample Sale

A great way to start the wonderful month of July!

I am a bargain hunter. That said, when I was in London I obviously never missed Monsoon's sample sale. You can't begin to imagine the lovely stuff they have for grabs at ridiculous prices. From jewelled trinket boxes to embellished cocktail dresses *sigh*. Sadly, I won't be there to attend this year. So why don't some of you in London check it out on my behalf. That way I know all is not lost. Yeah. :-)

Late Lunch and Champagne Brunch

I was cordially invited to a champagne brunch hosted by The Wedding Guru, an events planner in Abuja. Not knowing what to the expect of the event, I was looking forward to it especially because on the stylish invitation cards sealed in a canary yellow envelope with gold embossed writing. Shame I didn't take a photo of it. But here's what the invite looked like:

It was on a Friday during work hours so I chose to have a late lunch, of course. I had to put my best fashionable foot forward and still be work compliant given the dress code restrictions at my work place.
